Alison and Mark at the Old Field Country Club

January 15, 2011

The holidays have come and gone! They just came and went so very fast! I’ve sworn to make 2011 a year jam packed with positive and good things. I have a whole blog post dedicated to all the awesome things I am looking forward to this year, so stay tuned! In the meantime, it’s time to get back to blogging! I have so. many. posts. lined up over the next couple of days! Should be fun to relive the last of my 2010 weddings and portrait sessions. And guess what? I’ve already shot my first wedding of 2011! There are some fun plans for Kimberly Hurst Photography, including a new website, new albums, new new new new new!

But now to the real good stuff! Here are some of my favorite images from Alison and Mark’s wedding at the Old Field Country Club!

Megan and Danny at 632 Hudson

December 1, 2010

Megan and Danny. Where to begin? Getting to know Megan and Danny has been such a treat. I feel blessed to do what I love. Taking photographs for a couple on their wedding day is such an honor. I really do love what I do. I try not to gush too much about it because I feel like it’s said. A lot. By a lot of wedding photographers. They almost sound like a broken record at times! But when you get a couple like Megan and Danny, you feel really honored to be included on their wedding day. Their love is so palpable. And their wedding day was packed with awesomeness. Cupcakes from Sugar Sweet Sunshine (it’s hotly debated, but these are my pick for best NYC cupcake), Jason with DJ Gaza, the most amazing gown from Melissa Sweet, suit from Brooks Brothers, invitations by Laura Beth Gencarella, flowers by Christina Squillari, and day of coordination by Katie of Sara Kate Events.

Danny got ready at the Soho Grand and was greeted by his man-servant for the day, C3PO.

Combining two wedding musts! Manolo Blahnik and something blue!

I could have shot the details at 632 Hudson ALL. DAY!

A new favorite “moment!” I’ve discovered my love for the photos right BEFORE the first kiss! So much happiness and anticipation!

This was a party and a half! Maybe even a party and two-thirds!

I LOVE when the very last shot at a wedding is something this lovely.

Laura and Cliff at the Montauk Yacht Club

November 22, 2010

I shoot a lot of city weddings, so it’s always fun when I get to stay on Long Island for the day. I was even more stoked on shooting Laura and Cliff’s wedding because they were married out at the Montauk Yacht Club. Which, is just so adorable. Montauk really feels like the end of the world. You drive and drive and drive and think how can Long Island be this long? But once you get out there, it feels like you’ve entered a different world. You’ve driven past the craziness of the Hamptons and all of a sudden things slow down and everyone looks like they are just really enjoying themselves. Here are some of my favorite photographs from their day:

Day of Coordinator: Ryan of Above and Beyond Events
Florist: Pedastals
Map of Montauk: Beth Cote Paper Arts
Programs: 2BSquared
Place cards, table cards, menus: Manhasset Wedding Co.
Dress: Monique Lhuillier
Cake: Jason Ellis of Top Tiers

Dianna and Kevin’s Wedding in Clinton Hill

November 15, 2010

Dianna and Kevin had the most adorable Brooklyn wedding. They live and were married all within a matter of blocks! Dianna got ready at The Bourne Townhouse, Kevin got ready in their apartment, and they both walked from those locations to iCi where the wedding ceremony and reception took place.
Dress: Kathryn Conover
Suit: Ted Baker
Shoes: Badgley Mischka
Band: Lapis Luna
Cake: Baked

Best. Cake. Topper. Ever!

Nawal and Jon’s Puerto Rico Wedding

November 11, 2010

My assistant Candice and I had such fun shooting Nawal and Jon’s wedding in Puerto Rico back in August! When Nawal and Jon booked me, I wasn’t even thinking about having a baby so I was so EXCITED to shoot in Puerto Rico and had all these plans to stay a few extra days after the wedding so Kyle and I could have a fun vacation in the middle of wedding season. Well, soon enough after they booked me, Kyle and I found out I was expecting! So, those fun vacation plans became a very quick trip for me (aka no vacation). I flew in and out of Puerto Rico so fast, to get back home to my 4 month old baby, your head could have spun!

But irregardless of my travel plans, I had the most amazing time spending the weekend with Nawal and Jon in Puerto Rico! Candice and I flew in to San Juan and drove down to Ponce to meet up with Nawal and Jon on Friday evening. We did a second engagement session around downtown Ponce that night and here are just a few of the shots:

And then of course, was the wedding day! Nawal got ready at the Ponce Hilton. And the wedding and reception were then held at the Castillo Serralles, which is this amazing home/castle at the top of this hill, overlooking all of Ponce. Simply breathtaking!

Jon’s family is Puerto Rican and Nawal’s family is Persian. To say the reception was a party, is a complete understatement.

Nawal, Jon….congratulations!
