I’m always looking into awesome new albums to offer my clients, and have recently fallen in love with Vision Art Books. I think this book is gorgeous and can’t wait to see more client images all over these pages!

Besides the image wrapped cover, these pages have a lovely weight and feel as well as a matte finish to the printing. The colors are bright and crisp and those pages lay totally flat.

I’m sorry, just couldn’t resist the title.

I love the holidays. I love the end of a year. The chance to reflect back on the life you lived over the last 12 months, and to start thinking about what kind of life you get to live in the next 12. It’s a beautiful thing.

It’s such a busy time for so many of us, and I always fall victim to the clock and the date book! So, I figured I’d share “what’s on deck” over here at Kimberly Hurst HQ. Posting and sharing photos might be slower than normal what with all the fun trips, visits and parties that are starting to pop up between now and the start of the new year.

A couple things I am looking forward to sharing with you all include:

1. Reviews and photos of my new sample albums! I’m now offering three options for albums, and I have to say, I am stoked about all three! I think I’ve got a pretty great trifecta for whatever your desires in a wedding album may be.

2. I have some vendor reviews and wedding related photo shoots coming this way! I was so very lucky to get to work with House of Telsa AND Pebbles and Paisley and will soon share some killer images of their beautiful offerings, so stay tuned!

3. Besides taking my beloved photos for my clients (and I can say that because I really do LOVE taking portraits of people), I still strive to take time out of my schedule to photograph “for myself.” I’ve never been one to classify my personal photography. I just love making pictures. They tend to be quiet little moments and I don’t share them all that often on the blog anymore…some of you may have wandered over to my Flickr page and could have landed on some of my art images over there though. So, I’ve had a few people along the way ask me if I sold prints. And I’ve always meant to! But never took the time to develop an inventory and present them for sale. Well, I’ve been working on said inventory, and am getting close to launching my little Etsy shop. I realize this will probably launch as soon as the holidays are OVER, but hey, better late to the party than never showing up!

So, I will be around soon with some of the goodies I’ve already talked about as well as a couple other fun things I have up my sleeve (hint: some stop motion vlogging!).

Just so this post isn’t totally boring (aka, no picture!), I thought I’d share a recent photo I snapped of myself on Thanksgiving. I’ve recently lopped off all my hair! I am still getting use to the cold breezes of winter kissing the back of my neck, but I am starting to dig short hair. And anyone looking to rock a new point and shoot camera, I can’t recommend the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX3 enough. I carry mine around everywhere I go. Finally a point and shoot for photographers! I can shoot manually, shoot in RAW mode, change my aspect ratio, record HD videos. It has a lovely little 24mm wide angle Leica lens, 10.1 megapixels, 3200 ISO sensitivity, a nice BIG LCD display, and on and on. Just an awesome little machine. And it’s cute to boot!

Hey there, hi there!

I just thought I’d take a minute to update everyone on what I’ve been up to lately. It’s been a busy couple of weeks for me and I’ve been working my tush off trying to get jobs edited, galleries posted, albums designed and printed, and at the same time plan my husband’s 30th birthday party, attend a workshop, and get ready for house guests and in-laws coming to stay!

I’ve been busy, but it’s been great getting work out the door and into the hands of my clients! And Kyle’s party is finally here! This Saturday my hubby turns the big 3-0, and I’ve got about 3-0 people descending on our home for some food and cocktails! I’ll try my best to be a happy hostess as well as photographer extraordinaire and hopefully share some of the fun here on the blog.

In that regard, I will probably be away from my computer and email and all that fun stuff for most of the weekend. So, please know I will get back to you as soon as I have a moment to collect my thoughts. Also, if you are waiting on your job to be completed, just know it’s coming real real soon.

Hugs to all, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY GUY, Kyle!

I know I’ve been a little light on the blogging lately, but my super-busy-shooting-August is now turning into my super-busy-post-processing-and-editing-September! If you are expecting an online gallery to go live, or DVD’s in the mail, or blog sneak peak, just know I am working my little tush off getting your photos all ready to go!

Lastly, I am skipping town this weekend. I have a date with a photographer! My girl Cynthia That-Cacopardo of That Girl Photography is taking some portraits of me for this here little blog and for my website! So, I won’t be super close to a computer that much this weekend, but will check email from my iPhone. Just know I am going to be busy looking fabulous. I kid, I kid.

It looks like “the switch” I’ve been talking about is going to happen some time between tonight and tomorrow, and over the next couple of days, I am sure I will have to fix and patch a few things. So, the dot com will be down for a period of time and my email might get really, really icky as well.

This here old blog, will be the only thing up and thriving through the changes.

But once kimberlyhurst.com is back up and running, a brand-spanking new blog will have been born. The brainchild of Nicole Balch of Making It Lovely and her design company Smart and Lovely and myself, it’s totally rad and makes me giddy just thinking about it!

If you need to be in touch with me over the next couple of days, try my email address kim at kimberly hurst dot com. If I don’t get back to you within a reasonable amount of time, you can try my old email address kimbermiller at hotmail dot com.

Let’s hope this goes smoothly and I will be back in touch in a few days with a hot, new, updated website, a rad new blog, some sweet photos, and a lovely little slideshow.

Just a heads up. There is alot a-brewin’ over here at Kimberly Hurst headquarters. A nice, new, updated website is on it’s way as well as a new blog!! But there’s a lot of moving and shifting of web hosts happening over the next few days. So, if you stop by for a visit to the main site and it’s magically not there, try back later. Or, if you try and write me an email and it gets unanswered, please try and email me again. I promise, I am really not trying to ignore you, your email might have gotten lost in the vast ether of the internet. I won’t be ticked if you email me a couple times. You could say I might even be flattered!

Anyway, there’s lots of new and exciting things happening here, so stay tuned for all of it! As well as some photographs from a darling outdoor wedding in Rochester, NY this past weekend.

Spending the night driving up to Rochester. By the time we hit I90 we ran completely out of windshield washer fluid. It was the most bitter cold we’ve felt in a very, very long time when we stepped out of the car at the gas station.
