Catching Up

March 12, 2009

WHEW!! I’ve been back from Las Vegas for a little over two weeks now and I am only now starting to get caught up on blogging about all the fun things that have been going on. Simply put, WPPI was awesome. I met lots of new friends, learned a lot, and hey, the parties were pretty fun too! Needless to say, once everyone else left Vegas, I got started on part 2 of my Las Vegas adventure! I had some of my besties come into town and we played, ate, went to the spa, and did all things Vegas for my 30th birthday! I was really worried about turning 30, and some would say I was dreading the ticking of the clock to my 30th. But once it arrived, I embraced my bday and had tons of fun. Waking up the next day felt like any other day too.
So, I didn’t take tons of photos while I was there. I was way too busy! But here is one photo from my actual little birthday party. We ended up at Wasted Space in the Hard Rock Hotel. We sat down for a few drinks when all of a sudden a band started to play. I asked the waitress “Is this a Guns n Roses cover band?” She replied “No, it’s Steven Adler’s new band called Adler’s Appetite.” Turns out we landed at the club in time to see Steven Adler fresh off his stint on “Celebrity Rehab” perform some fun GnR songs with some new bandmates! It definitely made for a fun night!

One of the major things I wanted to do while I was at the conference was to hit up the trade show and check out the Cypress Albums booth! I did, and I was so very impressed with everything I saw there. When I got home from Vegas, I got online and ordered a few little goodies from Cypress and can’t WAIT to offer more and more of their products.
But here are a few images of this nifty little folio I will be offering to clients. It makes a pretty way to decorate your desk at work, or as a present for a loved one.

Viva Las Vegas!

February 14, 2009

That’s right folks, yours truly is headed out west for a week! I’ve never been to WPPI before and am soooo excited about going! Not only is WPPI THE wedding photographer convention, it also happens to be falling right before my birthday. My 30th birthday as a matter of fact! I am headed to Vegas on Sunday morning and getting knee deep in learning and networking through Thursday! Come Thursday night though, Kyle flies into town and Operation Keep Kim From Thinking About Turning 30 begins!! With some of my closest buddies also in town (to paint it red) for the weekend with me, I am sure to have the best 30th birthday ever!

Even though I will be away from home for a little over 7 days, I will certainly be reachable via email and cell. Just know it may take me a little bit longer to get back to you than normal. With my iPhone acting as business central and my primary source of contact for the week (plus the fact that I am going to be a busy little bee while I am there)…I will get back to you as soon as I possibly can.

In other news, Kyle and I recently went to see the Black Keys at Terminal 5. It was a great show. Kyle called it “face melting” even. And I would agree! So, you might understand how annoyed I was when I was confronted with this:

Still a great show, and our friend was actually really enjoying himself so I won’t rag on him too bad. But come on dude.
And here’s a shot I grabbed with my trusty Lumix point and shoot…which will be the only camera I bring along with me to Vegas!

One last little bit of news! Chris and Juliette’s wedding was recently featured on the Wedding Cabaret! A great local Brooklyn bridal blog! Thanks for the love!

Some Etsy Adoration!

January 27, 2009

This weekend, my sister Candice and I had a fun dress-up party. We use to do this sort of thing when we were wee little ones, just now we actually know how to apply makeup and neither of us emerges from our play room with quarter inch long bangs (long story, if you want a serious laugh, ask either one of us about it some time)! One of the cool things about having a beautiful sister is that I don’t really need to hire a model! I mean, I might be biased, but heellluuu?! she’s gorgeous! Thanks sis, for being the bestest assistant ever and a damn fine model to boot!

The point of this grown up girly play time was to photograph a stunning piece from Etsy seller Pebbles and Paisley, aka Twigs and Honey, all of which are the gorgeous work of Myra Callan (she’s even got a fun blog)!

I fell in love with this headpiece the moment I saw it! Candice and I both thought the feathers, the lacy trim, the yummy velvet ribbon tie, the perfect vintage button details all lended themselves to a super romantic equestrian look…which I always thought would make a picture perfect wedding theme.

If you are looking for a beautifully crafted alternative to the traditional white veil, please run on over and check out what Myra has to offer! Her pieces really do add a striking bit of flare to any wedding day. As well as something you can wear for a fun night out on the town! I plan on rocking this piece to dinner dates, parties, and get-togethers galore!
