Kim and Kyle Decorate to Lucy and Linus

December 19, 2008

Last night Kyle and I decorated our tree! I set up my camera on interval mode and took one photo every minute. I’ve finally been infused with a little holiday spirit at long last, and can’t wait to welcome in the new year! I don’t think I will be posting much before the holidays, but stay tuned shortly after for a fun boudoir session and a mock bridal session.

In the meantime, here’s a video of our tree decorating! We were not listening to Christmas music while we decorated because honestly, we don’t own any! And when one of Kyle’s favorite bands came on (called Every Time I Die), I had to exercise the power of the veto. But for the video, I decided to set our evening to one of my favorite holiday tunes “Linus and Lucy.”

Happy Holidays everyone and Happy New Year!

New Album Offering

December 17, 2008

I’m always looking into awesome new albums to offer my clients, and have recently fallen in love with Vision Art Books.  I think this book is gorgeous and can’t wait to see more client images all over these pages!

Besides the image wrapped cover, these pages have a lovely weight and feel as well as a matte finish to the printing. The colors are bright and crisp and those pages lay totally flat.

What’s On Deck (the halls!)

December 8, 2008

I’m sorry, just couldn’t resist the title.

I love the holidays. I love the end of a year. The chance to reflect back on the life you lived over the last 12 months, and to start thinking about what kind of life you get to live in the next 12. It’s a beautiful thing.

It’s such a busy time for so many of us, and I always fall victim to the clock and the date book! So, I figured I’d share “what’s on deck” over here at Kimberly Hurst HQ. Posting and sharing photos might be slower than normal what with all the fun trips, visits and parties that are starting to pop up between now and the start of the new year.

A couple things I am looking forward to sharing with you all include:

1. Reviews and photos of my new sample albums! I’m now offering three options for albums, and I have to say, I am stoked about all three! I think I’ve got a pretty great trifecta for whatever your desires in a wedding album may be.

2. I have some vendor reviews and wedding related photo shoots coming this way! I was so very lucky to get to work with House of Telsa AND Pebbles and Paisley and will soon share some killer images of their beautiful offerings, so stay tuned!

3. Besides taking my beloved photos for my clients (and I can say that because I really do LOVE taking portraits of people), I still strive to take time out of my schedule to photograph “for myself.” I’ve never been one to classify my personal photography. I just love making pictures. They tend to be quiet little moments and I don’t share them all that often on the blog anymore…some of you may have wandered over to my Flickr page and could have landed on some of my art images over there though. So, I’ve had a few people along the way ask me if I sold prints. And I’ve always meant to! But never took the time to develop an inventory and present them for sale. Well, I’ve been working on said inventory, and am getting close to launching my little Etsy shop. I realize this will probably launch as soon as the holidays are OVER, but hey, better late to the party than never showing up!

So, I will be around soon with some of the goodies I’ve already talked about as well as a couple other fun things I have up my sleeve (hint: some stop motion vlogging!).

Just so this post isn’t totally boring (aka, no picture!), I thought I’d share a recent photo I snapped of myself on Thanksgiving. I’ve recently lopped off all my hair! I am still getting use to the cold breezes of winter kissing the back of my neck, but I am starting to dig short hair. And anyone looking to rock a new point and shoot camera, I can’t recommend the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX3 enough. I carry mine around everywhere I go. Finally a point and shoot for photographers! I can shoot manually, shoot in RAW mode, change my aspect ratio, record HD videos. It has a lovely little 24mm wide angle Leica lens, 10.1 megapixels, 3200 ISO sensitivity, a nice BIG LCD display, and on and on. Just an awesome little machine. And it’s cute to boot!

Ohhh, you must check this out!

Sergey and Jessica’s Engagement Session

December 3, 2008

I had so much fun hanging out with Sergey and Jessica! We met up at my favorite little spot for portraits and walked around and chatted and laughed the whole time. And I have to mention how incredibly sweet they both are. You see, we meet up and Jessica hands me a bottle of wine as a little thank you!! I was so surprised and thought how awesome it was! So, thank you both for a fun evening and the delicious bottle of wine that Kyle and I totally enjoyed.

So, without further adieu, here are my faves!

I heart the golden hour.

Hullo gooorgeous (imagine me saying that all Austin Powers like).
