Juliette and Chris - A Summer Wedding

August 28, 2008

I did not get to meet Chris and Juliette before their big day, but as it always seems to go, they were just awesome! From the minute I stepped inside their family home I was welcomed with open arms and warm smiles. Juliette and Chris are such kind, and FUN people. I knew their wedding was going to be special, not to mention, the weather last Friday was nothing short of glorious! Here are some of my favorite images from such a beautiful summer wedding.

I just have to mention one of the coolest parts about their wedding details. Chris and Juliette made their wedding rings! They took a seminar offered by New York Wedding Ring and learned to anneal their rings from recycled jewelry. So, if you are interested in an extremely cool DIY and/or green element to your wedding day, check it out! Even though we already have our wedding bands, I think Kyle and I might do it just for fun!

I was practically struck down by Juliette’s eyes! Incredible.

Such cool centerpieces! Chris and Juliette made each of these trees from copper wiring.

I think this is just about the sweetest favor I have ever seen! A little watercolor set with a bookmark to paint.

Me and my assistant, Nicole, were commenting how neat the cake was. And how much the design looked like green olives! Next thing we know, Juliette comes in the room and sees her cake and exclaims: “My olive cake! It’s perfect!” Turns out she based the design on one of her paintings. I love it!

We snuck out of the reception at sunset to take a few more portraits, and I am so very happy we did! The light was so delicious. Like butter, even! Thank you so much for indulging me you two.

Another super cool part of Chris and Juliette’s wedding day was they had karaoke! I have never seen so many guests so involved and loving every second of karaoke! These guys knew what they were doing. As seasoned pros with incredible voices, husband and wife sang to one another. So very cute.

Thank you so much Chris and Juliette. Your wedding was a remarkable and memorable day! I hope you have a fun filled time at Disneyland!

Kim’s Bridal Shower

August 14, 2008

This past Saturday, I got to spend a couple hours hanging out with Kim and all the lovely ladies in her life while they showered her with love and presents, all in celebration of her marriage to Jared next month! The festivities went down at Jimmy Hay’s restaurant in Island Park and here are some of my favorites from the party.

I just have to mention that Kim is a phenomenally talented jewelry designer! She designed the earrings she wore to the shower, and I know all you ladies out there can’t help but want to check out her website.

Best bridal shower gift EVER!

Thankfully, Kim did not have to don the bridal shower ribbon hat! Instead, her bridesmaids made a bouquet from the odds and ends of ribbons. And once all the gifts were opened, sillyness ensued!

Showers of happiness, Kim, for you and Jared! I can’t wait for the wedding next month!

8-8-08

August 11, 2008

The number 8 in Chinese culture is believed by some to be an auspicious number. One of luck and prosperity. Jenny and Calvin were married on 8/8/08 and I do believe these two will be blessed with luck and love in their marriage for all of their days. Here are a few of my favorite images from their wedding.

To expound on their luck, the weather in NY on Friday was unpredictable to say the least. I woke up to grey skies and torrential rain that morning, while the area North of my hometown had crystal clear skies. Jenny and Calvin are so very lucky! The golden hour of the day was spent taking portraits with a lovely, warm sky and not a drop of rain. Once we finished up taking pictures, we went back inside to get ready for the ceremony and by the time we walked around to the front of the venue and got Jenny and Calvin tucked inside for their guests to start arriving, the skies opened up and poured down rain. And of course, with their luck, the rain let up and their ceremony went off without a hitch!

This was the last frame I shot at their wedding. All of their friends were dancing the night away when the DJ asked everyone to bum rush Jenny and Calvin, squishing us all together at the center of the dance floor. And the idea just hit home to me, again, these two are lucky to have such wonderful friends and families and I wanted to thank them for inviting me into their wedding day. I was so happy to share in their joy. All the best you two, and enjoy Hawaii!!

Jenny and Calvin - Engagement

August 5, 2008

Tonight I had the total pleasure of getting to hang out with Jenny and Calvin. These two totally rock and I can’t wait to shoot their wedding! Which is THIS FRIDAY!

We had so much fun playing around my hometown’s public park. It’s really a great place to take pictures. It’s got killer light in the evening, baseball fields, trees, playgrounds, soccer fields, a roller hockey rink, handball courts, tennis courts, water fountains, beach and canal front views, and on and on. Just a great place to have fun and be goof balls.

Anyway, without further adieu, here are Jenny and Calvin!

Forgive me, but I had to make a little animated gif for these series of photos. During our photo shoot, I was asking Calvin to swing the gate open and closed with Jenny grabbing on and going for a ride. As I was going through and editing the photos, I kept “animating” these by passing over them in Lightroom. And it made me smile, every. single. time. These two make each other so happy and smiley, and I thought this little animated gif really shows their personality!

My absolute favorite of the day.
