Working on using textures and I just love this treatment I gave my favorite picture of Julia and Darin! I am so very excited about using textures and am taking my time to make them extra special!

So, here’s a preview! Stay tuned over the next couple days for some more lush images!

Getting to Know You

My friend Cole tagged me, wanting to know some very random things about yours truly. I have been mulling this over for some time, trying to find the most random tidbits I could think of. Here goes nothing!

The rules for this one are pretty simple too:

1. Link to the person who tagged you.
2. Post the rules here.
3. Share 7 random or weird facts about yourself.
4. Tag 7 random people at the end of the post, linking to them.
5. Leave a comment on their blog so that they know they’ve been tagged.

OK, here we go!

a. I have a tendency to slap hieney’s. Not to strangers or anything, but all those loved ones? They know to watch out. If I am feeling overwhelmed with love, you can expect a hug….and a hieney slap. Nothing hard, just enough to let you know I am thinking about you.

b. I have to eat the crust of pizza first.

c. I can check my email every 5 minutes if you let me.

d. Kyle and I have a compost pile. We love our compost pile. We worry about our compost pile. Like if it has enough moisture, if it needs to be turned…I think about the little fellas doing work on our plant matter, and I worry about if they are happy and comfortable. All this, but I cannot touch the compost pile. My father has told me how cool it is to stick your hand inside and feel the heat radiating from it, but the thought of that freaks. me. out!

e. I love love love to clean the vent in the clothes dryer! It’s about the only satisfaction I draw from having to do laundry. Well, I hate having to fold, sort and put away laundry. It’s one task that never feels like you are DONE. There is always the next load. But to peel away that grey patch of lint? ahh! Love it!

f. Alot of the time, when I check the time, I have to divide the minutes by the hour. It’s probably the most random thing about me, but it’s true. I love when it’s an even division. For example, say it’s 8:40PM. I love that 40 is divisible by 8. Ask me to divide anything, and I rock…I think it’s from this weird little habit I have. But ask me to add two numbers together, and I need a pocket calculator.

g. I tend to get to-do list crazy. I have one on my iPhone at all times, I write them on a little green spiral bound notepad in my purse, I leave Post-It’s everywhere. Being a busy girl makes for lots of lists I guess!

Time to pass the fun on!

Getting To Know You Part IV

March 21, 2008

In an attempt to let everyone know a little more about me, I’ve been posting these “getting to know you” posts. They are now all collected in a nice little tag over on the right hand side of the blog.

I will be doing the same tagging for weddings, engagements, and my Project365 posts!

Bear with me while I work on adding tags over the next couple days (weeks?).

You might know, you might not know, but I have a growing vintage camera collection. It all started when one day, I decided to pull out my Nikon FE from my old camera bag and put it on a shelf. My lovely little FE was my first camera. It traveled with me through high school photo classes, it came up to Rochester Institute of Technology with me and worked it’s little butt off through all my photography classes. I love my FE, and thought I should have it on display, not zipped up in a Lowepro pack for years on end. And so it began, I now hunt garage sales, flea markets, and on occasion I will dabble in eBay, looking for the next little fella to join the ranks of my camera collection.

My cute little FE. The camera that started it all.

I just love the look of vintage cameras. They were built like tanks, and listening to their shutters release still makes my pulse quicken. I even like smelling them! Ok, don’t give me that look! But I do! They all retain that film smell, so when I feel nostalgic, I open the back of one and inhale. It’s like a short trip down memory lane.

I’ve been shopping for a cute point and shoot for some time now. My little red Elph has died and the time has come for something light and portable for when I am out on the town, or away for a long weekend, and don’t feel like bringing along my gear.

And today I discovered the cute little mini Leica from Minox while floating around the Urban Outfitters website!
It’s the perfect marriage of a small little point and shoot, WITH the vintage look I love so much! So, it’s officially been added to the wishlist.

Kissing and Telling

March 16, 2008

I knew I was getting a special delivery Friday and was totally bummed when I missed the UPS man. The thought of waiting around until Monday for a re-delivery was out of the question. So, I hopped in the car Friday night and spent an hour waiting to pick up my delivery at my local UPS pick up station.

It wasn’t all that bad really, the guy behind the counter was rocking out to some choice Bob Dylan albums!

ANYWAY! The delivery!
Was my sample album from Kiss Wedding Books!

The leather cover is so yummy. So buttery. It also comes in 6 colors including black, brown, blue, tan, green, and as seen here red!

The pages are a sturdy 2mm thick. Just the right weight!

My favorite feauture! This beauty lies nice and flat! My own wedding album doesn’t even do this! I fear cracking the spine every time I open it. Not so with Kiss Wedding Books!

The pictures are RA-4 printed on archival paper. Colors are true and crisp.

This really is a gorgeous wedding album, and I am so very pleased to be adding it as an option for my clients. Thank you Kiss!

MWAH!
