Pea Pod and Lost

January 31, 2008

Well, Pea Pod came and went. My review is short and sweet. It was pretty convenient, not all that expensive considering I was able to spend less money using the lovely subtotal as I shopped, the driver was a cool dude, and all my groceries were brought to my house while I watched Ghostbusters!

Two negatives? Some of my items were out of stock, and they failed to give me my “free gift with first purchase.” I don’t know what the free gift is, but I will call to say “dudes, not cool.”

All in all, I will certainly be “poding” again in the future!

And that brings us to LOST!! Woo hoo!

This picture of Raz sums up all our joy in the final minutes counting down to the premier.
But shhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, it’s starting!
The episode ROCKED our socks. We are so happy some quality writing has returned to television. Don’t get me wrong, reality tv is fun, but a well written, nail biting, sharp left turn kind of show is just so much more awesome.

Last little bit of news before I sign off. I am going to be redesigning my website!! A couple more sections will be added, as well as more pictures, and hopefully/maybe even a new logo. I don’t have it all figured out yet, but stay tuned for the launch some time soon!

Getting to Know You Part II

January 30, 2008

Well, I’ve been making a concerted effort to get some personal time back lately. I love weekends when I have to work, but those weekends I don’t have to work, are just as nice!

So, a work-free weekend rolls around and the last thing I want to do is go grocery shopping. I know there are lots of you that LOVE to take the time to shop for your groceries. I just happen to find it a major time taker. Driving there, fighting for a parking spot (especially on the weekends), wheeling around a cart that inevitably has a bum wheel that either squeeks like crazy or makes the whole cart vibrate uncontrollably, waiting in line with your little ticket for cold cuts or fish, trying to remember if I need more shampoo, waiting in a loooooong line to pay, bagging all the groceries yourself, making sure nothing tips over or explodes in the car, etc.

Whew! And before you know it, 2 hours have passed and you are just getting home to unload it all.

So, with that said, I decided to place my first Pea Pod delivery! One of my personal New Years resolutions included making more time for me and Kyle to just be together. And I think paying $7 for 2 hours of that precious weekend time is so worth it!

My delivery is scheduled for tomorrow between 5:30 and 9. They HAVE to be there before 9 though. If they are late I might bust a gut! What happens at 9 tomorrow night?

If you don’t know, shame on you!

P.S. I will surely post a couple pictures from my mini-Lost party and review my Pea Pod experience in the days to come.

Getting to Know You Part 1

January 23, 2008

So, it’s winter and that means I have some down time until my next wedding. But I really don’t want the blog to get stale, so I’ve decided to try and blog about some other random things relating to me or my photography in the interim. So, check back over the next couple of weeks to see what I come up with. I’ve missed taking a picture a day, so maybe deciding to blog more often will encourage me to keep taking some pictures that are not wedding related.

For the first installment of “getting to know you” I thought I’d share some pictures of my workspace.
For those that might not know, besides being newlyweds, Kyle and I are also new home owners. Yup, 1 year and 1 day after getting married we went to closing on our first house and were handed over the keys. It really was the best “anniversary gift” we could have ever managed to give one another. It was really thrilling to unlock the door and land on the other side of the threshold…of our first house.

One of the perks of being a homeowner is the space it’s allowed us to occupy! I have a studio now! Living in our apartment, I was sanctioned to either the couch or the kitchen table with my laptop for computing and working. Not FUN!

So, this room has come a long, long way since the end of June when we first moved in, but I thought I’d share some pictures of my studio as it stands now.

It’s come a LONG way since we first moved in. For starters, we installed wood floors because there simply was no floor. We painted, hung molding, fixed the outlets, bought some office furniture, and I invested in a new computer! This room has certainly been a lot of hard work for us, but it’s been so very rewarding.

I mean, just look at how happy the cats are now!
Anyway, there is lots more I have planned for the room, but I won’t bore you with all the little details. So, thanks for tuning in. Check back in a couple of days and hopefully I will have some other random things to talk about.

But before I go! I just wanted to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD! I love you past heaven!

Jared and Kim

January 14, 2008

Jared and Kim
Greenpoint, Brooklyn

I had such a blast hanging out with Jared and Kim! Well, I wouldn’t expect any less really. Girls named Kim just happen to be extraordinarily fun to say the least.

But like I said, we had tons of fun trotting around their great neighborhood, and I truly look forward to capturing their wedding day.

We happened to be walking by a bus driver who was passing some time before starting his next route. He saw us walking by, chatting away and taking pictures when he asked if we wanted to take some pictures on the bus. We jumped right on, snapped a few, got some marital advice and said goodbye. He was such a nice guy! Only in NY.

The Brae Loch Inn
December 29, 2007

The Brae Loch exuded character and warmth. Lots of plaid, lots of brandy, kilts, and cozy fabrics.

Wintry bridal bouquet.
Requisite shoe shot.

It was easier to fasten buttons by the window light.
The end result was stunning.

A shared laugh during the toasts.
I love first dance shots.
Brides who get down and jump around have lots of fun.

EDIT: Added some more favorites. I decided to give them an antique feel. A winter evening wedding, in an old town, with such a lovely couple, I just thought this treatment gave these shots a little something special.
